Cost of In-home Senior Care
Our team is often asked about in-home senior care costs. We’re always happy to provide information that helps older people afford the care they need to live happy, fulfilled lives.
Home care costs can vary significantly as they’re generally based on how many services the care recipient requires. These services can range from on-demand health care and help with household tasks to assistance with the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). In some cases, where the senior lives can also affect the cost of care.
No matter what level of care your loved one requires or where the person lives, senior home care services offer excellent value. According to Genworth’s cost of care survey, the average cost of senior home care is much more affordable than Assisted Living facilities, Skilled Nursing care, or a nursing home.
Best of all, your loved one gets to stay in the comfort of home, which is exactly where the person wants to be.
How can I pay for in-home care?
Private Pay
Living independently at home for as long as possible with a professional home care agency like 2nd Family is often the best care option for families.
However, since Medicare doesn’t pay for in-home senior care services, most families pay for care privately. Many utilize such financial resources as Social Security benefits, retirement savings, life insurance annuities, and more to help self-fund care.
Some families may be able to access additional funding for in-home care through long-term care insurance or the VA Community Care program.
Long-term Care Insurance
Many long-term care insurance policies offer coverage for in-home care. The amount of coverage is based on the terms within your policy. 2nd Family can work with ANY insurance provider who offers a home care benefit as part of a long-term care insurance policy.
