Supporting Our Senior Veterans
Veteran Home Care Services
As we celebrate Memorial Day this week, we give thanks to the men and women who have given their lives for our country and our freedom. We pray for the families and loved ones of the heroes who will never come home. We honor all of our servicemen and women, past and present, as they serve our country with bravery and sacrifice.
As recently as 2018, census data shows that around 5.5% of the U.S. population are veterans. That comes out to 18 million veterans. Over half of those veterans are age 65 or older. More than 4.5 million of these senior veterans qualify for veteran disability benefits.
Veteran home care services have never been more important than right now. As millions of senior veterans continue to age, more assistance will be required to allow them to stay in their homes. Older veterans benefit from patience and respect. Choosing a home care agency can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. 2nd Family understands that senior veterans sometimes need extra care. We also understand that the extra care will come in different shapes and forms. Our certified caregivers are equipped with all the tools and knowledge required for exceptional care.
Quality Care
2nd Family provides continuing education courses to all our caregivers. These courses give our caregivers a better understanding of specific diseases and conditions their clients may have so they have a better understanding of the type of care that specific clients may need to feel their best. 2nd Family’s RN Care Coordinators will ensure caregivers are abundantly suited to care for all of our senior veterans.
Senior veterans may qualify for veteran home care services through the VA Aid and Attendance benefits and Housebound allowance. If you receive a VA pension and need help performing activities of daily living, then you may be eligible. Activities of daily living include bathing, toileting, mobility assistance, or dressing. The Veteran-Directed Care is a veteran home care service that gives veterans the opportunity to choose their own home care in a consumer-directed way. These veteran home care services and benefits were created to care for senior veterans when they need it most.
If you are the primary caregiver to a senior veteran, we salute you and we thank you. We honor your service to this country by caring for its heroes. 2nd Family is here to help you and your loved one receive the veteran home care services you deserve. Be sure to explore the different benefits you or your veteran qualifies for and allow our country and 2nd Family to serve you. Thank you for your service and for making our nation great.
