As sandwich-generation parents, we spent more than a decade caring for three parents through cancer and Alzheimer’s while raising young children and managing demanding careers. Like many families, we sought professional help and were deeply disappointed by inconsistent care, poor communication, and the constant feeling of being “on call,” even when support was supposedly in place.
We believe professional caregivers do not replace family, they protect family. By sharing the physical and logistical work of care, we help families remain present emotionally, preserving relationships instead of allowing them to become task-based or overwhelmed. At 2nd Family of Seattle & Bellevue, we put families first, support caregivers intentionally, and prioritize clarity over complexity.
