Our Story Our Family's Experience was Personal

When our mother was battling pancreatic cancer and our grandmother was living with Alzheimer’s, we quickly found ourselves trying to build a care team with very little guidance. We leaned on friends and friends of friends, doing everything we could to hold things together, but the process often felt overwhelming and far from seamless. Like so many families, we were trying to care for the people we loved while also balancing work, family responsibilities, and everyday life. In that season, we saw just how meaningful in-home care can be. With the right support in place for our mom, we were able to spend less time scrambling through each day and more time loving her, being together, and helping her experience as much of her bucket list as possible. That experience showed us that quality care at home does more than meet physical needs — it gives families the gift of time, presence, and peace of mind.

Our grandmother’s experience was different, and it left a lasting impact on both of us. When she had to move into a facility, the relationship changed, and so did her spirit. She passed away within months, and that heartbreak deepened our belief that the setting and quality of care can shape the final chapter of a person’s life in a profound way. That is why we chose to build 2nd Family of West Chester. We want to provide other families with the kind of support we wish we had from the very beginning — compassionate, dependable care that reduces stress, brings comfort in difficult moments, and helps loved ones spend more meaningful time together. Our hope is to help families navigate hard seasons with dignity, warmth, and the reassurance that they do not have to do it alone.
