When Nate Pieprzyk lost his mother in 2023, it sparked a lot of reflection — especially about what could have made her final years more comfortable. Though she was always independent, he came to see how a little extra support at home could have made a meaningful difference. As he explored senior care options around Charlotte, none felt quite right. That’s when the idea for 2nd Family Charlotte began to take shape: a home care model built around the kind of care he would have wanted for his own mom — supportive, compassionate, and personalized. Today, Nate and his team bring that same standard to families throughout Charlotte, Matthews, Union County and the surrounding communities.

At 2nd Family Charlotte, our mission is for families to feel truly cared for — from the first phone call to every visit in the home. We believe exceptional senior home care starts with a thoughtful plan created by a dedicated Registered Nurse and carried out by Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who are passionate about what they do. We take the time to listen, communicate openly, and tailor each plan to fit the person — not just their needs, but who they are. Our promise is to guide Charlotte families with honesty and compassion, to offer peace of mind, and to help build a community that values and supports its seniors every step of the way.

2nd Family has been a lifesaver for me and our family! My mom quickly began to decline right before my husband and I were going out of town for our daughter’s wedding. 2nd Family immediately responded to my plea for caregivers during our time away. 2nd Family went above and beyond to provide an expert private duty nurse to monitor mom, administer her medications, take her to a doctor appointment, and oversee the CNAs taking care of mom. The CNA staff was competent and any issues were immediately addressed by Nate in order for me to feel as comfortable as possible during our time away from Mom. Upon our return, 2nd Family continued to provide overnight and daytime care while I finished out the school year. I am so thankful we found 2nd Family and will definitely count on them in the future as additional needs arise.
